Below is the list of high school seniors from California schools who were announced Wednesday as semifinalists in the 2020 National Merit Scholarship Program.

The designation is based on scores from the PSAT standardized test taken in the junior year. About 16,000 students nationwide were named semifinalists in this year’s competition. Most will qualify for finalist status, making them eligible for scholarships to be announced in the spring.
