Princeton University Does Not Offer Early Decision Any More

Sept. 17, 2010

Princeton University eliminated the Early Decision option in order to evaluate all applicants in one process. All application materials must be postmarked or submitted electronically by January 1. Applicants will be notified of admission decisions by early April. Admitted students who qualify for financial aid will receive information regarding their financial aid offer at the time that they receive their letter of admission.

 

Harvard College Needs Two SAT II Subjects Scores

In the past Harvard College need applicants summit  three SAT Subject Test scores to satisfy its application requirements. But now applicants need only take two SAT Subject Tests. Anyway, students should not submit two Subject Tests in mathematics to meet this requirement. Applicants whose first language is not English should ordinarily not use a Subject Test in their first language to meet the two Subject Tests requirement.  All students are encouraged to submit additional Subject Tests (which may include one in a student’s first language), Advanced Placement or International Baccalaureate test results, or any other evidence of the breadth and depth of their academic accomplishments.

 

 Single-Choice Early Action at Yale University

Yale’s Single-Choice Early Action program can give applicants an admissions decision by mid-December. By sign the Single-Choice Early Action Agreement on the Yale Supplement stating that the only Early Action/Early Decision application you intend to file is Yale’s, the students can't apply

for Early Action or Early Decision to any other school. But if who are admitted early need not respond to the offer of admission until May 1, and may apply to other schools for Regular Decision.

 

 

QuestBridge-National College Match Program

Sept. 17, 2010

The National College Match connects high-achieving low-income students with admission and full scholarships to 29 partner colleges. Dartmouth College and the University of Virginia have become QuestBridge newest partner colleges for the 2010 National College Match. The College Prep Scholarship provides more than 1,000 awards to outstanding low-income high school juniors and the next College Prep Scholarship application will be available in February 2011.

University of Pennsylvania- Early Decision

 

A student may apply Early Decision to only one institution

Sept. 17, 2010

For those applicants who submit their applications to University of Pennsylvania Early Decision by the November 1 deadline will receive a middle December decision. Those admitted must respond to University of Pennsylvania by January 7. Deferred student will be reevaluated in March and will receive a final decision by early April. Denied students will not be reconsidered in the same academic year.

 

University of Columbia- Eliminated or Reduced Parent Contribution

Sept. 17, 2010

Families with calculated incomes below $60,000 and typical assets will not have to make a parent contribution for the cost of education.  Families with calculated incomes between $60,000 and $100,000 and typical assets will see a significant reduction in the amount of parent contribution for their student’s tuition and room and board costs. For example, a family with income of $75,000 and typical assets will see their parent contribution decrease by approximately one half as compared to current financial aid policies.

Cornell University-About College Board's Score Choice

The applicants should submit either scores of the SAT Reasoning Test or the ACT with Writing. Cornell does not participate in the College Board’s Score Choice and requires students to submit all scores from SAT tests taken.
